Jayden Pack scored 18 points, leading a foursome of Rebels who scored in double figures as Hephzibah earned an 85-69 road win over Aquinas Wednesday. Correy Peace and Eric Grant each added 17 points, and Breylon Davis chipped in 17 for Hephzibah, who improved to 2-2 for the season with the win.
The Rebels ran away from the Fighting Irish during a five-minute third quarter stretch that began right after Camden Parada, who led all scorers with 31 points, made a pair of free throws with 6:00 remaining in the third period to cut Hephzibah’s lead to 42-37. The Rebels responded by outscoring the Fighting Irish 18-6 and opening up a 60-43 lead when Davis scored a layup with 1:04 left in the third.
Davis, a senior, scored 5 points during the decisive stretch, and Grant and Peace, both sophomores, added 4 each.
Pack, who made 4 three pointers, scored 16 of his 18 points during the first half. The fourth of Pack’s bombs put Hephzibah ahead 40-30 with 24 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
Hephzibah will visit Warren County (4-1) Tuesday before beginning region play on the road against Morgan County on Friday, January 8.
